J. Pechauer Custom Cues

Pechauer cues

I HIGHLY recommend buying a J. Pechauer cue. I have played with one for over 7 years now. My first was a JP series and then I decided to spend the money and buy a Pro Series and it was well worth it. The one I use currently is the P-12 with a predator 314-2 shaft. (that's the model number for the 2010 professional series, I bought it 4 years ago and they still offer the same model) These cues are the best I have EVER hit with and I don't know that I will every buy another brand.

These aren't a "series" of cues. 3 of the 4 are one of a kind (2 of those are made from the same billet of wood, (coco)) . The 4th is a 1 of 3.

Bought my Pechauer PS-02 about ten years ago, I suppose I could say it was special order due to the weight I wanted. Incredibly well-balanced- I wouldn't trade it for anything else. Absolutely love it.

I also very strongly recommend J. Pechauer cues.

My daily player is a Pechauer p19 from the 03-04 series. Love it. Just put a new Triangle on it today.
Also, customer's service is excellent with Pechauer. I couldn't remember which model of cue I actually had, sent some pics to S.Douglas and had an answer within a few hours.

If you want a perfect cue then buy a Pechauer. I had one years ago and traded it, I always regretted that. Now I have a new Pechauer from the Camelot Series Constantine. The cue is absolutely perfection. Looks great and plays great.

great cue

i purchased one of the crown jewel series and placed an OB2 shaft on it and it played amazing. Once I got my Josey, I gave the Pechauer to my nephew. He loves it.

Uncle?

Wow! Will you be my uncle?

I've heard that Joseys are great. They must be for you to give away that Pech.

I've owned seven Jerrys and one Joe, and I wish I still had them all.

In fact, I'd probably trade any cue (or cues) from my modest collection for the right Pechauer!

Although an old thread, they still offer exceptional customer service - especially to an overseas buyer they had no obligation to help.

Great people, great cues. Really regret selling mine.

Been playing with an entry level Pechauer butt and Predator shaft for a little over a year now. LOVE it.

Started with a 314 shaft but having come from and English pool background I found in the end a (thinner) Z shaft felt more natural to me.

The weight, balance, and hit with the Pechauer is just delightful.

(Oh, and don't hesitate to drop me a PM if you're interested in upgrading your Pechauer to a Predator shaft. :) Not knocking the original shaft though ...I've heard good things about them, but the pros all seem to love the Predator 314.)

J Pechauer-Great cues!

I can honestly say of all the cues I have played with a Pechauer and a Black Boar are my favorites (as far as hit is concerned).

I have never used aftermarket shafts. Whatever the cue came with, I played with. The Pechauer was the best, the Black Boar had an ivory ferrule, so that may have changed some of the feel to it. Not sure. What I can say is the Pechauer hits the best of all the many cues I have tried.

Moving forward, that will be the only cue I play with, period. I will give the low deflection shafts a try, just for the hell of it. I always just adjusted english with my eye on the ball. I am no expert, I just know how to make adjustments well, so it never bothered me. To use a low deflection shaft seems interesting, but not necessary.

A cue is a personal choice. I am a sucker for a pretty looking butt, and not into the plain jane style or sneaky types. That is just me. We all have our own choices in cues and that makes this game even more fun. I always enjoyed a good game with someone and then we would check out each other's playing cues, hit a few balls, trade money for games, etc. It makes it more interesting.

I really think you just can't go wrong with a Pechauer. I have spoke with them on the phone in the past and they are top notch people to work with. If you buy one of their cues, you are part of their service for good. They treat people well and make an excellent product.

Just my opinion.

Poor resale

I began shooting pool with a Pechauer, but have stopped recommending them to fellow pool players, not because of their playability--I think they play well--but because of their resale value. There just aren't many buyers out there interested in purchasing a used production cue. I've seen Pechauer cues retail for $2k and not bring $800 on the secondary market. It doesn't make sense to me to buy a cue that you're going to take a massive lost with, unless you plan to never sell it. Although I'm sure everyone on AZ has bought their "forever" cue and then parted with it. I also think a player's money can go further with a custom cue maker and the player will have a unique cue that plays just as well if not better than a Pechauer. So while I think Pechauer offers a quality product, I think players can spend their money in better places.

I have had four (4) Pechauer Cues.

The Break Cue I have is very good, the front load of the cue does assist in my Break Shot.

The 3 play cues I've had are as good as can be had, each time I bought another cue, I moved up in price.

I give the Pechauer Cue Company, the highest rating.

I have seen many other cues sold for about half of their original selling price. Obviously, hanging onto a cue for a while is usually best, but it doesn't always happen that way. I had a couple cues I traded off that I wish I would have kept now.

I just don't agree that it is a tanker when it comes to resale. I don't see many others doing much better. Given enough time, it will come into its own. I still think it hits a ton compared to the rest.
