Jacksonville, North Carolina

I'm going on vacation next week to Jacksonville, North Carolina and wanted to know if there were any AZ'ers up that way who might want to play some (for fun, light action, whatever). I realize I'll be off, and most work during the week....but I regularly visit this one pool room there (can't think of the name) that is nice. It has Diamond and Brunswick tables (and a few bar tables), plus a nice bar and staff. I'll get in Saturday night, but will be ready to meet up with some other AZ'ers on Sunday (or any other day during that week more than likely) if you're interested. I'd just like to get something set up so I can coordinate my schedule with the wife (which loosely translates to letting her know well in advance so I don't spoil any plans that she has probably already told me about, but went in one ear and out the other).

Thanks, and looking forward to meeting up with some fellow AZ'ers.

I spent 4 years in Jacksonville NC. What the heck is there for vacationing? That's where Sparky Ferrell is from by the way.

Vacationing with in-laws.....not Camp Lejeune. LOL

They have a huge house out in the countryside with an in-ground pool, fully functional gameroom (with nice pool table) all of the comforts that you'd never want to leave. I might venture out to rack'em if anyone is there.

I played a lot on Court Street at a place called Sammy's. It was an old school pool room with about 6 tables. The old fellow would often let me play for free because I spent so much time in there. I'd go to pay and he'd just shake his head no.

Is the place called Rack'M Billiards, on Henderson Dr?
I went there once, seemed pretty decent, the guy running the place was nice. I remember playing on a Gold Crown, but don't recall the Diamond.

According to poolrooms.com they have 4 Diamonds and 10 GC's. And "good action".

My In-Laws also live very close to Jacksonville, NC.

The pool room is really nice, clean, good drinks...and the tables are well maintained from what I can remember (especially the Diamonds). I think a guy named Aaron runs the place from what I remember, and I enjoyed chatting with him. I've enjoyed myself every time. Lost a little money in a 9 ball ring game to some locals on the front diamond. That table was tough (uber tight pockets)....plus I was probably a little 'set up', but it was fun, and I didn't mind donating. :)
