Wonder if anyone could give me their opinions of Jacoby cues. I just picked up a 6 point Purpleheart one at a decent price and was wondering if it was a sound investment.

Thanks.

Jacoby makes an excellent cue. A friend of mine has 3 one of a kind cues that he designed and had Jacoby make for him. They are all very beautiful cues, executed to perfection, and play very solid. Of course 2 of them are ebony and 1 is cocobolo. So that helps in the solid play that comes off the cues.

I consider them one of the very best values you can get in custom shop cues.

I think they are a good value but use a lot of cnc compared to some of the other custom cue makers that do more short splice points etc. I've played with a few that played pretty good. Investment wise, hard to say, the do produce a lot of cues

I bought a Jacoby cue from Bagels and Billiards in Oregon in 1999. I'd never heard of Jacoby before but I tried out many cues that day and I liked that one the best. It's a one of a kind cocobola with all ivory inlays, joint, and butt cap. Since then I have tried out several Jacoby cues and they all have seemed to be solidly built with a good hit. Based on my experience I would say you won't gey hurt buying a Jacoby. Also their service is very goood if you ever need any repairs or refinish in the future.

I don't know about it being much of an investment unless you really robbed him on the price, but they are nice cues. They remind me of a cue that is somewhere between a JOSS and a Schon (being closer to the JOSS end of the scale).

I got it for a good price. Wont be hurting if I don't like it or cant move it.
Thanks for the input guys, much appreciated.

My Jacoby arrived this morning and WOW, its a shooter! Was going to sell it but I don't think I will be able to pry it from the wife's hands!:(
Its a tad heavy and has a ElkMaster on it but man its a solid shooter.
Highly configured Curly Birdseye Maple in the forearm really sets off the 6 Purpleheart points.

IMO jacoby would sell a lot more cues if they worked on there shaft tapers a little bit.I think the cues are realy nice but realy not one of my fav hitting cues because the shaft taper standard sucks. They do make a nice break cue and jump cue in my opinion.

David makes a very nice cue and his prices are much lower than most cues with comparable inlays, work, etc. He sells a lot of cues. They play very nicely. As far as collectible values, they are probably lower necause he does make so many cues. They are still very nice cues. He also makes very nice shafts and produces them for a lot of other cuemakers.

I have owned two Jacoby cues. They get some gorgeous pieces of wood, and do innovative designs. My experiences with my two cues was not eactly a positive one. They were both quite nice, and I loved how they both played....however, within months of recieving, both cues developed warps at the joint.

Now their customer service was top notch. And they did take care of the warps, but on the one cue, upon return, the inlays had been shattered all the way down one side...was kinda surprised that it wasn't noticed.

I have known many people who have loved their Jacobys...as did I, but dealing with 'issues' from two separate cues in roughly a year's time was just too much for me. This happened quite a while back now.....so I am hoping that those areas of concern have been addressed.
