Jacoby jump shaft --> Playing shaft?

I don't know too much about the shaft itself, or its construction, but I've been thinking, is there any benefit to converting the shaft from the Jacoby jump cue into a playing shaft? Is the wood known for being stiffer/denser/older growth, or is all of the weight that I feel coming from the tip and ferrule?

Just a simple curiosity for trying something new. :D Can anyone tell me about the feasibility or merit to this idea?
