Jacoby MAG vs McDermott GS vs Viking Kayano

Last questions I swear...maybe.

I'm wanting to go back to a maple shaft. I went to the cue shop today and got my hands on some McDermotts and Vikings. Was looking at the McDermott GS and Viking Kayano models. When I got home I was doing some more research and came across Jacoby MAG series but the cue shop didn't have Jacoby to try so I'm not going to be able to get my hands on one. Out of these three manufacturers and models which would you pick and why? Thanks as always for all the help!

I believe that you would get a very nice cue from all three of those options. Much of how the cue plays will come down to the shaft. That said, you could always buy the cue you liked the most and if the shaft doesn't play the way you like you can always get a different shaft. The Jacoby Ultra Pro shaft is the best maple shaft I have played with. I got one for my McDermott D-15 and love it. Also have McDermott G-Core shaft for that plays very well for the money.

pick the cue YOU like. when i look for a cue/putter/etc its my choice not someone elses. i like the lo-buck Kayano Vikes. never hit one, sure they hit fine. you like cf at all? Raven cues offers a full cf cue with their Pro shaft with an ext for under 450bux. My next pool purch is going to be a Raven Pro shaft.

Weird you said that because I just came across them. Have you shot with a Raven? I'm reading good things.

Looks like the Vikings come with their performance shaft as a free upgrade - no experience with either that or their regular maple. The McDermott maple shaft, based on the feel and performance of the 50th I got recently is great and "traditional" and I'm reaching for it more and more vs. a terrific LD custom I have and the Becue carbon, but those three cues among my cues are the clear favorites. Haha, maybe it's because it came with a 13mm tip and my others are 12.5mm and I'm liking that difference as well for some reason.

Viking and McDermott warranty against warpage - something to consider if you are getting the traditional all maple, IMO - you never know. Jacoby does not appear to warrant against warpage - never had one of their cues, but the line you are looking at sure looks nice.

Get what you like, especially if you have the chance to test out, but I'd guess all the cues in the range you are looking at will be good ones.

Never seen one but all reports are positive. There's some videos on YT. Carbon butt,Pro shaft, and an ext for under 450bux.
