Hi -

I saw this on Ebay and You Tube.

I think I understand the principle, but I am wondering why one could not just as well use a beer bottle or other smooth object instead of the metal tool.

I would appreciate comments from anyone who has used this method and/or tool to straighten a shaft.

Thank you.

Yeah, I have been reading that thread. Even the OP admits that it puts marks on the shaft - not a good thing IMHO.
I think it is a combination of the heat generated in the outside of the shaft and compressing those fibers.
I have my own way of straightening shafts which is less intrusive - but that's just me.
My 2 cents,
Gary

Hi,

I have one for doing cue repair.

It works and so far the shafts I have done for people are still ok.

I don't charge for doing it. Just a customer service thing.

After straightening, I sand the shafts with 320 and seal them. Then up to 1500, burnish and Renasassance Wax.
