Jacoby shaft question

I just bought a Jacoby sneaky pete on ebay and have a question about the shaft. The shaft looks and feels like it has a finish applied the whole length. All of my other cues only have the first few inches finished over and then the remaining length un coated. Is this normal for Jacoby cues? Should I have a cue repairman put it on a lathe and sand it down? The shaft is in great condition with no nicks but it just feels different. Thanks

While I can't answer for all jacoby shafts, but I know that mine isnt finished all the way up, just the few inches below the joint is all. Could it be that it isn't a Jacoby shaft possibly, maybe someone trying to pass a cheap shaft off as a Jacoby? Really though no idea, was just guessing.

I've had 4 jacoby shafts (2 playing, 1 jump, 1 break). None of them were finished the whole length. They do come very well burnished and extremely smooth though (but no lacquer or finish... and I believe no wax either but can't really recall).

I think it is a real Jacoby shaft. The joint collars have the same matching patterns although they do not align up.
