Is Jason Shaw eligible to play for Team Europe in the Mosconi Cup? Or Team USA even perhaps?

I'm guessing he wouldn't be eligible for the same reason Toasty wasn't selected when he was winning everything? Maybe once he gets his green card he can play for USA.

I think Shaw could be a real asset to Team USA (a) if / when he gets his Green Card and (b) he chooses to do so. SVB, Dechaine & Shaw you have the core of a formidable team for me.

Huh? Thorsten has had his green card for at least 5 years now. Still, he's a foreign national. Residency doesn't, nor should it EVER replace citizenship. And this applies both for pool and immigration policies, alike.

He should only be given the choice, if and when he becomes a US citizen.

I agree. And I think one has to wait a few years to apply for citizenship after receiving a green card.

exactly you have to be a full residence lawful for 5 years before citizenship can occur

like me i doubt shaw will get citizenship as there is no point and much expense in order to be able to simply vote

with the ridiculous 2 party system i this country the vote is somewhat meaningless

regardless this will be a non discussion after this winter when shaw plays europe in the mosconi but saying that toasty didnt get to play the year he was world 9 ball champ

they seem to like appleton as they know he will demolish svb at every opportunity.

Niels Feijen, Albin Ouschan, Thorsten Hohmann, Darren Appleton and Jason Shaw....that would be my pick for team Europe, USA wouldn't have a chance :cool::thumbup:;):D

Yep, the hottest player in the world plus the last three world 9 ball champs, plus Daz...

Sounds good to me :)

Would also be nice to see a fellow Scot in the team when I go to Vegas!

Here are the top Europeans that are currently active by Fargo Rating. Feijen, Shaw, and Appleton are in the top 5.

Albin is #12 in Europe. I understand he won China and got to the finals in Doha.

--But he came within a couple of games of not advancing out of the qualifying rounds in China,
--And then he let every opponent in the elimination stage in China get to at least 7,
--and then he went two and out in the follow-up tournament the next week in China, not getting past 5 (to 9) in either match.
--Then he returned to Europe. and lost 9-3 to Souquet in Austria...

Albin is a fantastic up-and-coming player. But he's closer to Petri Makkonen than he is to Shaw or Appleton. People tend to put too much emphasis on a few short-race, single elimination events.

Sanchez Ruiz hasn't left Europe, so far as we can see. But he is playing at a very high level against European opponents. Essentially the slew of opponents that Albin is beating 9 to 7 Ruiz is beating 9 to 6.

But Sanchez Ruiz is 15th on Eurotour ranking?

Are you sure your ratings are calculated realistically?

YOU LIVE IN USA YOU PLAY FOR TEAM AMERICA! DON'T SEE TOP AMERICAN POOL PLAYER LIVING OVER SEAS, IF SO THEY SHOULD PLAY TEAM EUROPE. RESIDENCE SHOULD DETERMINE WHO YOU PLAY FOR! ESPECIALLY AFTER A YEAR.
