Not much atmosphere operating at same level of Low Earth Orbit. Earth is the planet. Earth 2020.

Too bad, the shady aspects of ‘big money’ gambling has largely destroyed ‘small change’ pool action as a form of harmless entertainment. 99% of the younger players I meet are pussies, likely terrified they will get hustled if they bet anything at all.As I predicted...but I was wrong about just brushing across gambling. It was the subject! I will say the tone was positive overall, so I think they did a fine service to the pool community. We must always remember-criminals will be criminals. Whether it is a pool game or a poker game or just walking down the street, if someone wants to rob you they will. The back rooms draw different people for different reasons, but the common denominator is always the money.
Absolutely agree. I made a living (albeit a minimal amount) gambling pool when I was younger. It is hard to get a drink out of people these days let alone 5 or 10. It used to be the norm that everybody gambled for something-even if it were just for drinks or a couple bucks. I quit chasing it a long time ago, but still like to gamble when the opportunity arises. Mostly I enjoy teaching people how to play these days. I don't blame people for not gambling because frankly most don't stand a chance. On the other side of that coin, those who don't gamble are usually never tested in their gut and heart. Gambling is good for the pool game. It makes a player seasoned, tested, and prepared for any pressure match. At the end of the day, nothing matters unless there is pressure involved. I beat a guy recently for 4 bills one handed just because he was cocky. I love the pressure...it make me feel alive!Too bad, the shady aspects of ‘big money’ gambling has largely destroyed ‘small change’ pool action as a form of harmless entertainment. 99% of the younger players I meet are pussies, likely terrified they will get hustled if they bet anything at all.

Go figure. You wouldn’t believe the weight I‘ve offered (and been turned down) just to scare up some chickenfeed action (I’d rather lose $ than be bored). Reminds me of the old story about the guy with the glass eye who would bet fellow barroom patrons that he could take his eye out and lay it on the bar. After he won the bet, just for fun he would bet he could take the other eye out also, but there was never any takers.Guys do not seem to casually gamble the way they did even just 20 years ago.
There was a time back then I had a standing game with just about anyone of a dozen guys that might walk in the front door of the pool hall and all I had to say was, "Get the balls." Now, there's none of that and everyone wants to just play for free and I've pretty much gotten over guys shooting shots they would never shoot if there was even so much as $5 on the game, so I demur. I'd rather just practice.
