JB case just ordered

John, I asked this over in the cue case forum, but you have not been over there recently.

Have two questions.

1) What is the difference between 1st generation and 2nd generation Rugged cases?

Mainly the way the strap is done. The strap is now done with a fixed pad instead of one that slides along the strap. Unless it's a leather shoulder pad then we do it the slide method.

Also the second generation all comes with a nylon ring spliced into the interior at the lip to insure that the interior never develops tears from the fabric rubbing the edge of the plastic tubing. I tested the tear strength of this by sewing two handles on a piece of nylon and putting all my fat ass weight on a piece of metal tubing with sharp edges and pulling to try and see what it could take. So far we haven't had a single failure in this area since I started making them this way.

That's about it. Of course we are always improving and so there are other minor things that are more of incremental improvements that generally mean the case we build today is better than the one we did last month and so on. Essentially what you buy today from us is the best we can do now and may be fundamentally the same as what we built last month but we know we got better because that's how we operate.

I am often tempted to post on this site. The vast majority of the time I think, "why bother?" and skip it due to the nature of some threads. This one is a good example.

Are the same type of people that are totally offended by internet porn after surfing site after site.

Your statement "If the thread offends your sensibilities,,, don't open it." won't be accepted by that group of people because you see, it isn't about them being offended with the topic and it isn't about the topic being in the wrong forum.

What it is about is a minority of ungrateful members of this forum who want so badly to have their day in the sun by loudly exclaiming ridiculous demands that attempt to usurp the very joy of a pool forum that they claim to want to be a part of. It is a sad situation as they chase good and decent members away from this forum and deprive their very own selves of enjoying the pool forum as it was meant to be.

JB, thanks for all the information. Along with your "case showcases", I now have a better understanding of what to order when I contact your company.

On another note; would it not be better business to use an outside contractor to create a better website? Maybe a little more expensive upfront, but much better for the bottom line down the road not having to contribute to all the 'extras' to an employees paycheck. Plus, contractors that create websites for a living tend to do it at a higher level. Easy to fire them, too.

Never underestimate the value of a great website to expanding your business.

Really hard to find any outside contractor that does good work at prices I can afford.

Website design is really a good example of the maxim which goes good work is not cheap and cheap work is not good.

Not easy to fire a website designer who holds you hostage with custom code. Already spent $20,000 the past two years on two half-baked solutions.

I will solve it eventually.
