Good morning guys and gals,

I currently have a Barton and need more space. I have a whitten in mind that's for sale on here that I may pull the trigger on, but I just had a Few questions....

I know people have no problem putting high end cues in any case it seems, but since having a JB interior I now and sketchy on any other case with my cues. With their reputation I'm sure the whitten is fine, but should I be concerned at all there ?

I am sure other people will respond but the biggest difference is padding vs no padding.

You surely know how I feel about padded interiors and they simply protect better than unpadded interiors.

Look at this video and you can see what the cues are doing in a case with tubes with no padding.

Slomo with tubes

and this one

Protection Matters Video

Now, that said, Whittens are great cases. Joe and Jill do great work and plenty of people keep very high end cues in them. I feel that our interior offers a lot more protection but if I didn't make cases and no one made interiors with padding I would be proud to carry my cues in a Whitten. But IF your case was subjected to inversion or violent impact then your cues will NOT be protected as well.

John is right:D
but made sure he checked your Order twice, if not you maybe get not what you want
:(

You're right. We are seriously considering to stop taking custom orders for this reason. It is too easy to miss details with all the options we offer.

Not wanting to start an argument but isn't that the point of a custom case?
I have two of your cases and love them. Why the difficulty in following a checklist of options?

No argument. It should be easy but because our policy has been that everything is open to change it leads to many emails with many changes and that means that details can be missed. Then even if all the details are right on the order form it can still be messed up in the shop when people don't follow the sheet exactly. When you are dealing with a flow that has more than 20 true custom cases in construction every day it is not easy to get them all 100% right.

I thought it should be but several years of experience has taught me that it is not. Some customers are not so hard about it if we get something wrong and others are genuine upset. So if we simply quit making full true custom for the low price we charge then it will make life easier.

We are thinking about having a set amount of models with far fewer options. Those will remain at current prices.

Then we will raise the price for true custom significantly to pay for a few more people to be only dedicated to those orders and nothing else. Thus those who really want to have everything their way to the tiniest detail can get it and those who don't mind getting a line case can have some customization.

@John,
you are right again when the stuff Not follow your sheet:eek:
everything was perfect expect the big Box :banghead::thud:, maybe need the same Case again as the Pink was, but with lime green instead pink:wink:

I would just buy another JB case. For the money and protection they just can't be beat. Or buy the Whitten and have ulrtapad interior put in it.

I don't put our interiors into Whitten cases. The way Whittens are made do not lend themselves to coupling with our interiors. Whittens have some unique construction features that are very clever and very strong. While I can certainly take one apart I am not as confident that I can put it back together as beautifully as Joe and Jill do.

My advice to anyone wanting to reduce the rattle is to make a sort of pad that goes into the tubes a little to add a little bit of snugness to the cues from the top.

Basically though it's pretty much futile to think about making a Whitten interior into a JB interior. It's just two different ways to make cases.

Whitten makes a great case. Ernie Gutierrez ships almost all his cues worldwide in them.

True. I shipped an 8k Gina to China in the Whitten it came in and I put a little padding in the top to minimize movement and the cue arrived perfectly three days later.

Sounds good guys, at this point I think I'm just going to troll johns site and find something similar i can make my own.

Thanks

Don't know how handy you are but that sounds like a tall order. You might be better off selling your JB case if you don't need it anymore and just getting a bigger one from John.

Hit me up on Skype jbideas or Facebook and we can discuss your capacity and other needs. Sounds like you want a Whitten look with our protection.

While I won't copy Whitten I bet I can make you something sleek and elegant that you will be happy with.

Will do John thanks, and to make it clear.... I didn't want to "make my case" I just wanted to customize a case and will be probably selling mine at some point.
