I bought a nylon 3x6 recently from JB Cases and I am very happy with it.
The protection is better than anything else I've seen. It holds the cues snugly, and they honestly do not move. At a tournament recently, I demonstrated this to some friends by unzipping and opening the lid, then flipping the case upside down. I've done this over and over again and the cues don't budge (although it still makes my heart stop for a moment). Try that with any other case.
The design incorporates a lot of small touches that let you know it was designed by a player. For example, the zippers on the pockets go all the way down to the bottom of the pocket, so you have full access. The rubberized bottom is a surprisingly useful feature if you ever lean your case against a wall. The pockets are more spacious than most cases. And John is actually a custom craftsman so any special touches you want, he can build in.
My very minor issues are as follows:
1) Communication and timeliness can be issues if ordering directly from John. That said, the end result is worth the wait.
2) I wish you could insert the shafts with the tip facing up. I have a habit of doing this to avoid chalk marks in the case, but with a JB it seems the tip can only go in facing down. I'll adjust.
3) The size I ordered is ever so slightly too wide and deep for my cue locker at the local pool hall. Entirely my fault for not measuring in advance. I think this means I will have to get my specs straight and order another JB nylon
Don't think of this as a $100 case with $75 shipping. Think of it as a $175 case and you'll still find it beats the pants off any other case in that price tier. In fact, don't even compare it to "value" cases. From a functionality standpoint, I think it's the best case I've ever seen, at any price point.
