I see JLee isn't at the WPBA event, is she having her back surgury? Does anyone have an update?

Jeanette, I wish you the best and can't wait to see you playing soon.

Last I heard was that she wasn't going to play for the rest of the year but should be back early next year all due to her back surgery.

Her surgery will be next week. Usually requires 3-6 months of rehab. Doubtful whether she will even pick up a pool cue for at least 3 months.

Wow that's rough. I've found a fascinating documentary on her that I believe was made for Korean TV on DC++. They filmed her meeting with her doctor and examining X-rays of her spine. Just looking at the hardware she has in there now made me wonder how on earth she can even stand to bend over a Pool table, let alone spend her life playing in pro tournaments. To me it seems that nothing but the fiercest will to suceed could induce someone to voluntarily put themselves through that.

I wish her the best of luck and a speedy recovery.

Most people have issues they have to contend with playing pool but Jeanette's issues are huge! You gotta give her some props given what she's gone through and how good she got to be. Who knows, maybe this surgery will do the trick and she'll come back better and stronger. I'm rooting for her.

What is exactly wrong with her back?
I have heard she has back problems...

I had a surgery to correct a lumbar herniated disk that caused leg pain (sciatica). The herniated disk pinched a nerve and caused me lots of problems. That was years ago and my lower back is great and I am playing the game again. But I have to keep the core muscles strong (pilates and yoga help me) or I can have a bad couple of days.

Hope her surgery is a success as well...

She has scoliosis. Over the years, she's had metal rods inserted to help alleviate the pain and replaced when she's outgrown them. Aside from that, I really know nothing about her condition other than that she's shown to be in serious pain at times. I hope things work out for her.

Thanks for the reply...
My prayers go out to Jeanette Lee and her family.
