Disappointing for sure, but hardly a shocker, pretty close match on paper. Liu, a multiple winner of both the World Championships and the Amway Cup surely qualifies as the best ever Asian woman nine ball player. Of course, I'm betting Ga Young Kim will change all that somewhere down the road.

I think Kim will be a tough contender for the final spot if she can get past Helena and Gerda. Also, the bottom half of the draw has Liu and Corr. IMO, the title goes to Kim, Liu or Corr. Helena might surprise as well, she put earlier Allison to loser side...

Agreed, Mikko. To me, Corr seems the logical choice, but Pan Xiao Ting is the wildcard, and it's tough to count her out.

She's unknown to me. Does she play a mean game ? Also, I think Jasmin Ouschan won't probably handle the pressure of latter stages of a major tournament yet but she'll be a world class player for sure in the future. She plays so effortlessly, but shoots with a slightly too fast pace IMHO... a typical element in youngsters gameplay.

After graduating from high school, Kim learned, played and won more champions in taiwan than Liu, who spent her most time on the lessons in recent years. However, Liu still could win the asian, the world and the Amway cup titles , but Kim even couldn't get any real asian champion. The mentality is the greatest problem.

Pan Xiao Ting is china no. 1 and the winners of Japan open and Asian Championships. Besides, Chou Meng-Meng will be another world super star in the future.

Hello sjm,

I really don't think Corr is the logical choice in this tournament. Over here her and Allison are big fish but with all the asian players I would say Corr-Kim-Liu are even odds to win, maybe a slight edge to Liu.

If this were in Taiwan, Kim and Liu would have 2-1 odds against Corr. Jmvho of course.
