Jeannie Seaver Undefeated in Florida
By J.A. Barnes

Twenty-six ladies met at Wally's Sports & Billiards in Lakeland, Florida
for the Ladies Spirit Tour's latest stop on October 22, 2005. A $500 WPBA
player's choice qualifier was donated by LTLUniverse.com, adding to the
total purse of $2300 in play.
By the evening, Jeannie Seaver was just finishing off a 7-2 win over
Ellen Van Buren to secure a chance in the hot seat match. Meeting her to
face off for queen of the hill was Spirit Tour points-leader Tracie Hines
who had just taken a 7-0 victory over Bonnie Coats. Seaver and Hines
battled back and forth in the first six racks, tying the score at 3-all.
As she had throughout the day, Seaver made her move in the next rack and
took the last four games in a row to close the set at 7-3.
On the B-side, Crystal McCormick was on her game and making a nice
recovery after a loss to Tracie Hines in the winner’s bracket. After
staging a 7-6 comeback over Alex Rodil, McCormick went on to defeat
Heather Barkley 7-6, Niki Rasmussen 7-4, Bonnie Coats 7-5, and rounded out
her winnings with a 7-4 victory against Debbie Schjodt. McCormick was
ecstatic to learn that with that win she had captured the WPBA qualifier
by becoming the highest-placed eligible player.
McCormick then moved on to the semifinals to meet Tracie Hines to
determine who would play the finals. Hines made quick work of McCormick
with a 7-0 shutout, but McCormick was happy to take home the qualifier and
add another high finish to her resume.
The final rematch between Seaver and Hines was not as one-sided as the
earlier hot seat match. With both players bringing their strong offensive
skills to the table and neither giving an inch, the match went down to the
wire. Seaver was the first to take the hill in the race to nine with a
one game lead at 8-7. With a superb shot on the 8 to get in line for the
9-ball, Seaver claimed her first season win 9-7 and took home a $700
payday.

LTLUniverse.com Results:

1st Jeannie Seaver $700
2nd Tracie Hines $525
3rd Crystal McCormick $375 + $500 WPBA Qualifier
4th Debbie Schjodt $150
5th/6th Ellen Van Buren, Bonnie Coats $100 each
7th/8th Niki Rasmussen, Kimiko Yamauchi $75 each
9th-12th Heather Barkley, Lisa Hamilton, Jessica Barnes, Helene Caukin $50
each

Congratulations Jeanne!

And on another note it looks as if Wendy Jans needs to only show-up and win one match or so in the final tournament in order to lock up the Non Pro points lead and get the invites for next year. Still she took a risk by not showing up for this one (my assumption based on not seeing her name) and I have seen much stranger things happen in Sports.

Good for Jeanne! I remember the last time I played her in a pro tourney, I won and she cried her eyes out in the bathroom afterwards. I felt so bad. I think it ruined her chance to turn pro. She is a strong player and I wish her success.
