We lost a good one today folks. Jeff was a helluva player and a good all-round down to earth country guy. Jeff played well on just about any table and played for a few yrs on the Camel tour. He was very well known as a tough, gritty player on the barbox. Good athlete in hs and played scratch golf as well. Anyone that's played in Oklahoma or around the Midwest probably knows Jeff personally or knows the name. AFIK he had a heart attack while asleep. He would have been 67 later this year. RIP brother.................

Sorry for your loss. There's actually quite a few YouTube videos of Jeff Melton shooting in tournaments.

Here's one:

Why is it that people go out of their way to put bad music on a video that needs no music ??

Oh man, really nice guy too. Was always fun to cut up with, very approachable.

That music is annoying as shit. But at least in this case, since there is no ambient sounds in the video, you are safe to mute.

I played Jeff a couple of times in local tournaments. Knowing I stood near zero chance of winning, I thoroughly enjoyed witnessing how creative he was on a pool table. In one of those games, he jumped the cue ball off of an object ball, over another object ball, and into the 9 ball that was sitting in front of the side pocket. After that I was like, uhm, ok, how do you beat this guy? lol He was scrappy as hell for sure.

Jeff hated to lose at anything. Ultra-competitive on the table/golf course but funny as hell having a beer with. He knew more good jokes than anyone i've ever met.

I only spent a couple hours in the poolhall with him but he was a great guy.
Curious who Mark is that you referred to earlier? I think I know but not positive.
Pm me if you want.

Knew Jeff well from many years of seeing him and playing against him at Oklahoma and Texas pool tournaments.
Jeff was a great player, but more than that, he was a better person. Like Garczar said, Jeff could keep you laughing.
The pool world around here will sure miss him. RIP, Jeff.🙏

Reminds me of this shot. Fast forward to 39:30. Jeff dials in on that 9 ball side pocket, stares it down, and drops a sick jump bank/carom. Solid guy in and away from the game. He will be missed.
