Jeff Olney For Sale

buuuuuuuummmmmmp! (only cause Olney's kick arse)

not to mention, when the forum is busy it seems like a thread will be on the 4th or 5th page by the time you hit submit. I totally understand the need to bump them up (sometimes regularly)

I'm just curious and please don't take this the wrong way but if this cue is so perfect and you can make evry ball with it ....why are you selling it?
I own 6 Olneys and unless I need the money bad I would not sell any of them......and you know why? same reason, they play better than any cue I have owned and I'm playing much much better.
Bump and best of luck with the sale.

I'll just comment here Tony. I still have these two Olneys in this pic:

The top cue was my first Olney cue. It's still perfect in every way despite about 6 hours play. It's both too short and too light for me. It's 58" and about 19 oz and 18.9 with the other shaft. One shaft is Jeff's taper and melamine ferrule @ 13mm. I ordered another at 12.75 with an ivory ferrule, and when Mike Pancerny installed a teju lizard wrap we slightly "unstiffened" the taper. Bottom line is it's still too light for me. Really too short too. I prefer 59". That cue has the best hit and balance you'll ever find. Plus a seamless leather wrap. It's class personified, but I play exclusively with my new Olney(bottom cue in the pic) which was made to my specs. What shall I do with the first one ? Everybody at the poolroom loves it, even T-Rex, Tony Chohan, but nobody has any serious cash :( . Pool players :D .

I have a few other beautiful cues just sitting there. A JossWest, a Jensen, a Darren Hill sneaky etc. They never get any play. The economy is bad. Money is tight. The bills come every month. I'm tempted to let them go. Then I will have my Olney player, another great Dayton player, my sneakies, a J/B, and a jumper. I'm beginning to think that's enough !

I didn't mean to steal the thread. This Olney cue is a friggin' STEAL and no doubt a monster player. It should be sold already and down the road. BUMP for a great cue from a great maker...Tom

IMO.... everybody has their OWN reasons for selling items on AZb, and the last time I checked there are no rules stating where a person has to give a reason for selling on this forum...It shows very poor form to ask the question, and it's really no one's business...The cue has been offered previously for sale by 2 other individuals ......I didn't see anybody questioning their reasons for selling this cue.....why ask now??

BTW..Good luck with your sale.....pm me if your interested in trades??

Respectfully,

Dale

Well, I never meant to say I could make EVERY ball ;-)

But as I said in the original post, I don't much care for wraps and the shaft is only 12.8 as opposed to 13. Also, I'm leaning a way from the big metal pins. But the jury is still out on that, so if that were my only thing, the cue wouldn't be for sale. For me to make this cue what I'd really want, I'd order another shaft, and get a leather or lizard wrap. That's another $300-$400 I'd have to put into it. Believe me, I waffled on the idea for a long time. And if I can't get what I want for this cue, I may still do that anyway.

And if I do sell this cue, I could well see myself owning another Olney someday too. I just want a player and a breaker. I'm not a collector and I would most likely never have multiple cues laying around (unless I was trying something new).

Thanks

Shevek I did not mean to take this thrad to another level I just asked a question that's all but Iif I was out of line I apologize.
I had a feeling certain people would chime in with their bitter comments.
Again best of luck with the sale.

Dale, thanks for sticking up, but that's OK. Sorry, no trades at this time. I jumped into the custom cue thing a little early, and right now I just want to experiment on cheap sneakies.

Tom, who did the wrap on the bottom cue? What kind of lizard is that? Are you happy with the results? I wasn't previously interested in leather or lizard wraps until I discovered that some people have the skill to put them on without a seam showing.

Thanks

Mike Pancerny did them both and I am always delighted with his work. He's a wizard at leather wraps and a perfectionist in general. All his repairs are reasonable. Can be reached via www.customcuemaker.com

The hardest wrap to seam is a plain smooth one. The textured patterns will match up better without much seam showing. I'm content when I have to hunt for the seam a little, but you can always see it somewhat...Tom

Take it to the Action Room Joe and let this man sell the cue. I have a feeling Dale is not going to accept I heard he's not a very good pool player.

Bump for a nice Olney!
