Egg McDogit said:But how does a sledgehammer/stinger help you do that? It doesn't. If it hit noticibly harder, then you could say that you could be more accurate since you don't have to stroke as hard. The thing is, I don't think it hits much harder.
Well, first, the question was about the Stinger, not the Sledgehammer, two differen cues, two completely different hits. So lets stick with the Stinger. I don't really care about what the Sledgehammer does, as I gave one away about a year ago.
You're wrong. It does have an appreciably more Tranfer of Energy than any break cue I've ever owned. It does help you hit the rack more squarely for two reasons. One, the shape of the tip and two the construction of the ferrule, tip, shaft combination. These two things combine to make a HUGE sweet spot on the tip. That makes cue ball control easier. When cue ball control is easier, then hitting the rack more squarely is easier.
As for whether it hits harder, have you ever actually tried the Stinger, or are you talking about the Sledgehammer. If your talking about the Sledgehammer... well, first, it isn't the Stinger, and second, I GAVE my Sledgehammer to a friend after I got my Stinger. I had absolutely NO USE for it anymore. My opinion, from seeing what it has done from my break game, the Stinger is a very useful tool to have in your case.
