Jesse beat Dean Flounders 7-4 but needed some good rolls to do it.

One rack that got him in trouble was because of the table. Now this goes for bar tables or any table for that matter.

From breaking the balls there will be these white lines on the tableon the bed just nuder the rails on eack corner at the foot of the table. The reason for these white lines is the balls hit the rail after the break and actually get pinched forcing the ball to kind of smash the table cloth making this white line.

The problem is you don't know how the ball is going to react when you hit this spot with the cue ball or banking the object ball.

In this match Jesse tried to play shape by shooting the 2 ball and then having the cue ball hit this part of the rail. The cue ball came up short mostly because the rail is dead in this area. He still could shoot the 3 ball but had trouble getting shape on the next shot.

I know Jesse knows about this rail problem because we talked about it before but sometimes knowing won't avoid the problem if you have to use that spot to get shape.

A couple of games later he was looking at a kick shot at a ball and had to hit the same area on the rail almost exactly. It was a tough shot anyway but with this part of the rail it really turns into a crap shoot.

A way to override this problem a little is to hit it harder and force the cue ball. But in order to do this successfully you need to practice this shot on a good part of the rail and the bad part.

It's still a tough shot to kick at a big but any little edge you can get to increase your chances can be huge. Especially if making it is the difference of winning or losing the tournament.

If you see these white line under the rail beware. And most table get them after the cloth is on for a month or 2. But some bar tables have new cloth but the rails get damaged in these areas without the lines.

Safe thing is to check out these sreas on each table before you play on it .

Kind of a tip of the day!

Jesse will be playing again in about 15 minutes. See ya later geno...........
