Looks good. Don't worry about parts if something breaks Jet has plenty of spares. If you buy it just try to beat the guy out on the price. I would have on hand an extra capacitor, that's the only thing that went out on me and within 3 minutes I was up and running. Jets are expensive but good lathes - there are plenty of cue makers out there using them.

The wood stand isn't a good thing. You will never get it properly leveled. You can probably get it good enough and it might stay good enough, but there is a reason why lathes of that size are usually never put on wood.

I thought the same thing. I would think I can still get a stand from Jet but will need to do some research.

The Jet is well made. I have a belt type Taiwan Jet and parts are not available. I had to make two gears for it, one was the bull nose gear, not a small task. A lot of Chinese lathes parts interchange. Grizzly parts often fit other brands. I have a Harbor freight and I bought Grizzly parts for it.
Belt drive lathes are often quieter, and smoother. Before you throw away the wood base, check it out under power, it may surprise you. If it is not solid enough, slotted angle steel makes a nice lathe bed. I have one on my Jet. I think the worst part of a belt type lathe is if you do a lot of threading. I do odd threads a lot for other odd jobs I take in, but not so much with cue making. For cues a few basic threads.
The price does not seem unreasonable if the ways are good shape, unless you are in a very competitive area like in the rust belt. Good luck.

Josie,
I have the twin. I have it about three years and hardly used it.
I paid about 4000. Can't remember exactly. I can find out.
Mine is brand new cond. WHERE do you live, I ask again....

I've got an older model Jet belt drive 12-40 in really good shape, with cabinet stand and a built in oil reserve for coolant that I paid 1200.00 for a few years ago. I put a VFD on it immediately after purchasing and amped the rpm up some. Very good, dependable lathe.

Someone stated that they get many of their parts from Grizzly although they don't have a grizzly lathe. I have an Enco and I also have got parts from Grizzly for it. Haven't needed anything for the Jet.
