Tulip wood is very nice ... assuming this was a full splice blank from davis .... amazing anyone would cover up the tulip wood with a wrap ....
 
My guess is that it’s a full splice, but the handle section is maple, then a 4” or so separate buttsleeve. Hence the reason there is ring work just below the wrap. Pretty cue either way.
