Jim Mataya

A friend called me with bad news that Jim Mataya died, he heard it thru a few other sources...anyone know if that info is true?

Oh my gosh! This is very bad news indeed. I only seen him play once. This is really sad news! May he rest in peace.

I haven't heard that Jimmy passed away. I sure hope it is not true. I asked Keith to call Harry P. and inquire about Mataya, and he is unaware of it.

About a month ago, we received a phone call from a friend in New Orleans who stated he had heard Johnny Archer had a heart attack and had passed. I was very relieved to see Johnny at the Skins tournament a week or so later, and that it was only a wild rumor.

I did receive some bad news that Tom Armstrong, currently living in Texas, passed away last week from a heart ailment. May he rest in peace!

Jam.. It is probebly a rumor if you have not gotten the word. I know you are very well connected to the pool scene and would have heard somthing by now through the pool network which travels fast. I only hope its a rumor!

Me, too, Cut Shot! The latest issue of InsidePOOL has a very good feature article about Jimmy "Pretty Boy Floyd" Mataya. After reading it, I learned a great deal about him that I had not known.

As most who attended the DCC last year know, Jimmy Mataya was there. Every time I saw him, he was wearing a different hat, a very stylish kind of guy. I especially liked his classy black silk Italian Fedora.
