Jim Rempe - One of the Greats?

Jim Rempe's accu-stat match against Jonny Archer in the ( i believe and correct if i am wrong) 92 reno, has to be the greatest pound for pound match ever taped.

The commentary is priceless by Keith McCready and Buddy Hall. Keith says some weird things in it that are hilarious and if anyone has seen this the funniest is when he thinks Archers hand hits the cue ball lol:eek:

That match goes hill hill and i beleive they both run at least 4 or 5 at one time and the balls missed is 4 i beleive in the entire match.

They both shot over a .950 and it is just classic old school nine ball!!!!!!!!!

More truth about Rempe

I've seen lists of monsters who went down to Jim, read about tournament wins and huge prizes. Members have posted about Jim's great sportsmanship, integrity and talent. What I have not seen yet are comments on his instructional videos. Maybe I missed something, but it should not be overlooked that Jim Rempe has put out some of the best, if not the best, instructional tapes ever.

Pool School
Power Pool
Trick Shots
How To Run a Rack in Straight Pool
How to Run 100 Balls in Straight Pool

These instructionals offer big lessons to players at all levels and most other tapes pale by comparison. Jim has described correct form in a way that will help beginners and take years off their learning curve. He shows shots in Power Pool that I have never seen anywhere else.

I believe he still gives lessons from his home in PA.

Maybe the reason he is not mentioned enough???

First of all, I want to say that I am a giant Jim Rempe fan and I know of his Pocket Billiards career quite well. I have spent some time in his presence and also have his collector cue JR5 signed by him personally as well...

Jim is and always has been a Class Act. Everything about him is neat and clean.

Maybe if he had smashed some cues after loosing some matches? Or walked out during some matches? Or got in some heated arguments at the table during some world events? Maybe some nasty language throw in and possibly some physical encounters with opponents? Perhaps throwing of the rack or some pool balls? or Maybe even some big money games gone wrong? Maybe some heavy drinking or other vices???? You guys get the drift here I'm sure...

But no, Mr. Rempe is a Nice Guy...Class Act and true genteman in all respects. He never called attention to himself in any way and Sportsmanship always at the top....

Seems as though in our Pool World the ones who sometimes get all of the attention are the ones who have some Negatiave happenings about them or lots of Razzle Dazzle with the cue ball and showmanship...

Like I said before...Everything about Jim is and has always been neat and clean and classy...True World Class for sure....

Perhaps there is a lesson here for all of us when it comes to recognition???

Just a thought and I could be all wrong..

Jim is the best...

Thanks again,

Mr. J.

A friend of mine told me he was watching video of Jimmy playing 9 ball. Didn't know if he did it on purpose but he said that when he shot the 9 ball in he would leave the cue ball in position for the next break. Not sure if this is true because I didn't watch it but if it's true that alone would have to make him awesome.

Any idea on where one could get Pool School, Power Pool, and Trick Shots?

Jim was the first pro I looked up to, and the one that hooked me on Buddy Hall...
