I grew up in Brooklyn in the 60's and 70's playing at Joe Spinella's Albarmarle pool room.
Any one know if it is still open or when it closed or whatever happened to Beans, Gus Charrillo and Sal DeParma.
It was located in the basement of the Albarmarle theatre and was a bowling alley before it was a pool room.
Located just off Flatbush Ave. on Albarmarle rd.
Spinella also owned 2 bowling alleys in the are. One called the Diplomat and another one on Church ave. just off flatbush.
Any info would be appreciated.

I played there...

dear lucky...I played there 1956 till about 1962-63, also at Brighton on
Church ave. and Granada on Church near Nostrand ave.
Spinella's became a poolroom called "Action" that still exists
today but is on ave. N...it's named "Action on N"...one of the
desk guys durning the day was a thin black guy named Harvey
and a night guy named "Scooch" who was maybe married to
Joe Spinella's daughter...some of the players I recall..George
Lake,Ernie Paradise,a balding blond named Bob,a dark haired
guy named Frank...and the players from Brighton...Shorty
Martin [he was one of the Masked Marvels],Skippy McGowan,
Barry Greenberg and Johnnie Wright who owned the Granada
...I think we should go over to Garfield's cafeteria for a coffee
and continue this discussion......regards,vr
...oh did you know "The Old Billiard Club" on Flatbush ave.It
was from the later 60's..near the Rialto movie house?

Joe Spinella's

You were a little before my time. Didn't know any of those people. Late 60's early 70's.
I remember a room named Jackie Cannon opened on church avenue late sistys and early seventies.
I remember a player and gambler named Tony Belfury that traveled around.
Also a bookmaker named the cheese.
I remember garfields and chins . One open 24 hours and the other till 2pm for after Yonkers or Roosevelt raceway.
Also Jahn's ice cream parlour.
Haven't been back to that area in 25 years.

Pool Rooms in Brooklyn?

Anybody remember Jackie Cannon, in Brooklyn. He had a place on Flatbush Avenue, apparently, in the mid 1960s. Maybe called Jackie Cannon's BilliardWorld. ...
