I just got this cue from Dan(ToomnyQs), great guy to deal with and swift dealer!
I wanted to post this under cue review...but i'm not a pro or that i handle many cues so it wouldn't be a good review. Just wanted to share pictures and thoughts about the cue, so i figured it'd be more apt here.
First off, this cue plays Great! I was very surprise when i played with it, it took all of 5mins to feel comfortable with the cue. Let's face it when i bought this cue from Dan i didn't buy it for it's famed playability, i only thought it was good value for a nice looking cue plus i've been wanting to own a JD cue for awhile. Like i said, i've not been in this long enough to make comparisons but i did other players in the pool room try it out since they were all curious with my new cue and liked how it looks. I had players who plays with Southwest, Ernie Martinez, Schon, Mezz and Musashi tried my cue and it's funny but the only group who didn't like the feel of the cue were the ones who are loyal MEZZ cue users on WD700 shafts...i guess it's for obvious reasons since that's a fairly hard hitting cue. The rest of the group were very please with it and i had offers that would even turn my investment profitable...and it's from a southwest user..
A funnier thing did happen though...another JD Cue user who has an earlier JD Cue actually thought mine played better than his and true to his words i tried both and mine did play better. The cause can be debate-able as to whether it's built consistency or that JD has progressed in his cue building.
I'm not gonna scrutinize on the rest of the cue here since i know what i paid for, but there are 3 things that i'm gonna invest in making this a better looking and playing cue.
1. Re-Finishing of the Cue Butt (I'm an*l that way, so don't ask me why)
2. Re-Wrap with nicer exotic leather (looking at Black Ostrich Leg Leather or Shark Skin)
3. Change to Kamui Soft Tip
