Joel Kohn Custom Cue

Yesterday I purchased a new playing cue, 3rd since January, and I'm very excited about it. I took a couple quick pictures with my cell phone and thought I'd share them. The cue was made by a local cue maker named Joel Kohn. He made less then 100 cues total and stopped making them a couple years back. This cue was designed based off a Coker that a good friend of mine has. The cue is almost perfect minus the shafts being a tiny bit warped, but I was told that can be taken care of by another cue maker. Anywho, onto the pics.

Very Nice, I had to edit them a little to actually see the beauty of your cue. What kind of pin is that, it looks different.
 
It's actually a 3/8-10 pin. Don't ask me how since it looks nothing like a 3/8-10, but that's what multipul people told me and that's what joint protectors fit on it.

I'll see if I can get in touch with him. The couple people that knew him personally haven't heard from him in about a year. After he stopped making cues he moved and opened a bar on the other side of the state. If I can get ahold of him, I'll make sure he gets your e-mail address.

Thank you, I'm having some new pins made now, But I'm always interested in something new.
 
All I can tell you about this pin is that it's about 1.5 inches long, it's for sure a 3/8, and has 7 threads per inch (that's how we got the 3/8-7). If you know another way to figure out the exact dimension of the pin let me know.

Also, I'm not sure if it's because of the pin, but both shafts are hard to screw in on the last few threads. I really like that cause I know it's not coming lose for anything.

The cue hits better then any cue I've owned in my short time of playing seriously (just under 2 years and this is my 6th cue). Of course right now I'm bidding (got a lowball offer to start with) on the two Webb cues that are on eBay. Always willing to try something new. lol.

I saw that, the only problem I have with it is the gentleman getting me involved with it, I haven't seen these cues since 2001. So the only thing I know is, Yes, I made them skinny butts as ordered and yes, they were fine when they left my shop. 5 years later what do I know other than I made them. A little unfair on his part.
 
It did seem a little unfair when I saw that. I'm gonna keep an eye on the auction and go from there. For now though, the Joel Kohn cue I have is great. Only thing I wished was that he marked his cues in some way. I'm hoping that if I get in touch with him I can have him mark them for me.
