John Lewis Dismissed!

I just called the BCA in Colorado and asked for John Lewis. They informed me that he was no longer imploed by the BCA!

************I am referring to the present org BCA**************

I thought Mr. Lewis also held an even higher position on the World Pool and Billiard association.

Now that the BCA is truely a representative body of the Pool and Billiards INDUSTRY, why would the BCA care about PLAYERS?

NO future chance of being involved with the OLYMPICS, NO future chance of being a PROMOTIONS and TOURNAMENT provider.

Why should the BCA care about the PLAYERS?

I think it will get better, have you not gone to the new BCA website www.bcapoolleague.com and read what is going on? Mark Griffin is going to do an excellent job!

Yes, I've been to the NEW website. Mr. Griffin has a huge challenge and I sure hope he gets the right people on his staff to meet these challenges.

To date:
1. He purchased the BCA pool leauge and Referee programs. (effective June 1st, 2004)
2. He has started a website. (with a lot of text and inactive links. I'm sure these will become active asap)
3. He has posted a 'proposal' and has addressed some contract issues with the operators of the major tournaments.
4. Told anyone that is interested, who he is and that he wants to make pool better for leagues.
5. Provided a telephone number and email address for anyone interested in discussing the present and future of the BCALeague.

So far, these are positive actions. These actions and future 'insights' (and plans) Mr. Griffin will be providing will certainly add to the validity of his statements.

I am waiting for responses to emails I have sent him about the 'future' plans and other 'changes' that his NEW organization will provide.

I'm not sure I would use the word 'excellent' in describing what Mr. Griffin has done, but I sure think the word 'exciting' would qualify.

Funny you should say that... I talked to Mr. Griffin today. He and I remembered that we had met in Louisville 2 years ago.

If ever there was a time for Billiards to change the way it's doing business, NOW is the time.

If the 'Instructor' division would have come with the sale, this would have been (IMO) a great deal.

Couldn't agree more with that statement Tom.

He is the guy...

A couple of months ago when I first heard of the possibility that the BCA was going to sell the players leagues...(believe it or not) ... I immediately thought of Mark Griffin.
He has been supporting and promoting pool for many years in Alaska and San Diego and he is one of the friendliest - most courteous - guys in the pool world. Besides having a great cue collection, and loving to play pool, I believe he has the many business and personal connections needed to get "POOL" into a good light!
I am sure he has some good solid ideas and will listen to outside information to promote "OUR GAME".
Looking forward to seeing him again in Vegas in May and getting some updates.
