John Morra can beat any American for the Dough

Mike shoots so much straighter than Morra.

Just watched Sossei vs Morra....slow isn't the word.

My brown eye drops better knowledge than that. There's so much merit coming from these types of posts, being that you couldn't shine Morra's shoes.

Mike would beat him 7 out of 10 times!

Yeah, sure hypothetically it makes perfect sense. But not proven...
Why are people being chirping Morra's game? He'd steamroll 99.9% of people on here and 100% of guys that's chirp his game.

Listen homeboy....Morra was going to quit pool because for years ...in hundreds of big tournaments, he was placing 3rd and below. When he's in a field of top pros he knows he can't be expected to win. He won SBE and now he's rededicated himself to his game.

Sure he will beat most advanced amateurs, and other mid level pros. He's a top Canadian too. Guy plays constantly. The odds of him beating 4 or 5 top pros to win are very long....hence his record, which speaks louder than your "brown hole" every has.

Same reason guys like Stephen A. Smith are allowed to critique Tebow's game.

Knowledge.

If the only people allowed to express an opinion on someone were people who could actually defeat them, it would make for an awfully small "forum".

Yeah, that's obvious. I's the same old song and dance anyways. This place is half dumpster half recycling bin

Well, there certainly is some truth to that....still, occasionally we get some interesting discussion occurring.

True.. The problem I have isn't that people critique the pros but some of them bash them. Whoever started the thread trolled it up large saying he's the best and no one can beat him.. That's certainly not even close to true but I've already heard the Morra discussion a few times and being a Canadian I'm proud he's a solid young player, top tier forsure but he's not top of the food chain. I do think the guys that can't run 4 balls don't have any substance to their opinion.

Morra himself was gonna quit playing...cause he couldn't win...even he thinks he's not the world beater you think he is. He barely handled Sossei last night.

If it wasn't for bracket fillers like me who will play pro events and sponsors, guys like him would never make a living playing pool cause they don't consistently place high enough. That's just how it is.

You want to say I can't run 4 balls and all your nonsense means that you know I'm right.

Hello!? I didn't say he was a world
beater.

Him quitting though would maker him smarter than the other guys in the same boat, not the worst idea

I think you are off on your timing. John has discussed that he thought of quitting but rededicated himself to playing, but those thoughts and the rededication happened long before the SBE.

Last year, the dividends of that hard work showed, and John had #2 finishes in a number of big events (the China Open, Turning Stone, Chinook Winds, as well as the Smoking Aces BB event) and beat a lot of world class players along the way (e.g. at TS, beat Mika, Rodney, Shaw (9-8, before losing 13-11 in the finals). But he fell short in the finals in each of the events. As a fan of his, I was very happy to see him beat SVB to take down the SBE event - hopefully that win will give him the confidence to snap of the finals of the next major event where he gets to the finals.

The only reason he won SBE was the friggin format, he would have never got through the horses with only one loss!!!!!! That's the bottom line.:shakehead:

Oh, so now I said you specifically can't run 4 balls. That's two posts now I've allegedly said something that I didn't.
Congrats on being someone that supports the pros by donating to them as a filler in pro tournaments. I'm proud of your role but that doesn't make you entitled

Yeah, the format made that tournament a joke. I guess we all have a chance to win that tourney with the right draw

That's just silly. Yes, the format was messed up, but even it was a normal format he would have had to play maybe 1 more match (likely against Alex, who should have gone to the B side finals after losing to SVB in the semis). John has beaten Alex in 10b (beat him handily in the Canadian this month, although lost to him in the Archer Cup a week or so later). I'm not saying he would win, and maybe he's a slight underdog to beat Alex to get to the finals, but he certainly could have done it.

And, more importantly, the point I was making was that he finally won in the finals, and did so against of the top 10b players in the world.

I never heard of double elimination until the final 8, at that time it turns to single elimination. John came out of the losers side and did not have to play 2-8 place who also only had 1 loss at that time. That Sucked. Please correct me if i am wrong.

SBE is half short stops or worse. It's by far from a prestigious event. I ain't hating on Johnny, just keeping his level of play in context.
