Anybody out there know of any footage available from any of the Johnson City events? I've read that Wide World of Sports did some coverage.

Hello! Yes, I just bought a DVD of some old footage of a Wide World of Sports Johnston City tournament from the late 1960's off of EBay from a guy called "tenfttall". His e-mail address is tenfttall@msn.com. The footage shows Luther Lassiter playing one pocket and straight pool with Boston Shorty. There is also coverage of Boston Shorty playing straight pool and 9 ball against Harold Worst. The footage is old and has been copied from an old reel to reel projector but you are still able to appreciate their playing styles. It's actually not too bad. I didn't think I'd ever get to see the great Harold Worst playing pool and Boston Shorty has the most liquid smooth stroke of any pool player I have ever seen. There is also and interview with Harold Worst which was filmed about a year before he died from cancer. I think he was about 37 when he died. Harold Worst was considered one of the all time greats in pool. Check it out. You won't be disappointed.

As one who has grown accustomed to the quality of accu-stats footage, I have been hesitant to buy from this seller. The fact that he always has stuff up and that they are duplicates auctioned privately...makes me wonder...

How would you rate his stuff, on a 1-10 w/ accustats getting 8 to 9?

I saw some of the "Railbird" videos and thought the quality was pretty bad. He has some rare stuff including the Keith McCready one hand one pocket gambling tape though. I doubt Pat Fleming is a fan of this guy. The dvd's I saw were about a 3 or 4 out of ten for quality. Accu-stats quality is much better but you pay for it.

Yeah...I know what you mean. I would rate the quality of his old footage at about a 3. You really can't compare this with the excellent product that Pat Flemming offers. But then you have to realize that Pat is using modern equipment and Pat doesn't offer old footage...at least not yet. I've been bugging him about it and he says he's working on it. I hope he gets into it because the old time pool players had a certain style that we just don't get to see anymore. Hope this helps.
