i just purchased a philippi titlist conversion cue at an apa regional tournament. it looks like a 5/16 14 pin but i tried to screw a 314 shaft onto it that i have for a joss but it wont screw on. i put the 2 pins next to each other and noticed the philippi threads are slightly thicker at the top of the thread, and the joss are pointed at the top. the 2 pins lay into each other perfectly so i know they are both 5/16 14 and all the protectors fit the other shafts/cues. are there different types of 5/16 14's?

The thicker threads means it probably is an Acme thread. I'd give Phillippe a call and ask him.

yes there are 2 different 5/16 14 threads i believe. I ran into this once trying to screw a joss shaft on my old schon and it wouldnt fit. Do a search and youll find the thread where i asked the cuemakers and someone explained the differences.

thanks guys, as per an email from phillippi, it is indeed an acme thread....i thought i was gonna get lucky and put my z shaft on it to see how i like it. i may still have one made for it, its balanced real forward that way i like them.
