Josh Arieh--Poker's Bad Boy

isaw worse. that matasaw guy and that jerk he got into a shoving match with

I have played Josh poolo before in the early-mid 90s. We played one pocket and he played pretty good. Not a champion level or near it but
a solid B player.
As for the bad boy of poker thing. All we get to see is what the cameras
show. In last years WSOP they only showed the bad stuff and tried to make him out to look lucky at times. According to the guys that played against
him he probably had the best laydowns of anyone there and read people
very well.
ESPN is in it for the ratings so its hard to judge solely off of what they
are showing you. Editing can work wonders.
Do some reading and find out just how much editing went on last year. I was
surprised. Some of the hole cards they showed were not even from the same
hand. There were several players that said after viewing that the hands showed were not the hands that they had at that time. No manipulation of
the game but rather just the viewing. Same with reality TV.

Everyone who pays get 5 up,the cards or his play did nothing to form my opinion. Crying like a baby after he gets knocked out he hugs the other player and whispers just loud enough for the mic to pick up this"bust this MF"and then for good measure he said it again.Total lack of class earned my opinion of him. STB

That's a great article. For those of you that think Arieh is a bad guy your truly mistaken, if you go by what you saw at the 04 WSOP I can understand you would think that but Josh isn't a bad person. Ask his peers what they think of him (Daniel Negraneu, David Williams), they will tell you he's a great guy and this is coming from the people that know him best. Don't believe something just because you see it on TV.

I live in about the same area as Josh Arieh. I heard that he was playing pretty sporty pool but I never witnessed it. That was before I started playing. I was actually talking to one of my buddies last night about his one pocket game. He said that Josh loved to play one pocket and was a pretty strong player. As for 9 ball I heard a middle B or maybe a strong B. I heard he came to Gwinnett Georgia while I was in the hospital and played that Tater kid some one pocket at that big Viking tour event and he didnt like it but I'm not sure how much he lost.

As for his poker game I think he plays like an amateur on an internet freeroll. He's got a balsy poker game and sometimes it works, but sometimes it backfires. He is cocky but when your a professional at a game that has so much money in it who wouldn't be?! Just joking

Sorry Sammy

Hey Sammy,
It appears to me that you & Josh just never crossed paths.
Both of you are from the same time frame.
Josh was at the event you mentioned & played some big buck sets....out come?
Hope your doing fine.
"Have a nice day",
Lamar

Not sure if I know you or not. I used to live in the south ( dothan, montgomery, auburn and in Athens Ga).
Josh played well but I am sure that he does not play much anymore. Poker
has been good to him. He is no amatuer having won a bracelet in the WSOP.
I think you have his games pegged about right.
My main memory of him was that people started trying to play him because he was good action and then all of a sudden he was winning and peoples
opinions changed as quick as their money.
He beat me twice playing 1 hole and I won once. We only played 9ball
once and it was in one of Larry's ( from Newnan) was doing his B & C tournament weekends. Probably around 93-95.

In all sports the particiapants talk smack I dont no why it would be any different in poker. If people knew all the talk that the great football and
baseball players do it would shock them.

BTW- In a previous post you mentioned the players around Auburn. Matt
Guido Marcus etc. Do you see them much? I have heard that little David is
playing really well. I hope to get back there for X-mas but it is not looking
promising.
