Here is an experiment that didn’t yield the result I was looking for. Backstory: I have a pre-war 56 inch, 20oz Willie Hoppe cue I like to hit around with sometimes. One night, I was just shooting lights out with this Willie cue…. So naturally, I figured I should make a cue that I could take around to the pool hall that felt similar. Steve Janes was kind enough to let me make a couple of design changes to his model 855E Legacy cue and make it so the butt and shaft split even at 28” for a 56” cue experience. In addition to size modification, he agreed to use a faux ivory for the box inlays in the butt sleeve, and he also agreed to add some gun site inlays into the Ebony points. Also, I went with the classic block letter Joss logo on the butt cap. The shaft is a Joss kielwood high-performance, which is a very nice hitter. Here’s the rub, I’ve never really been able to play well with it. I think the 56 inch cue concept was well intended, but a failure. My desire to futz around with this cue is basically zero. It has absolutely no cosmetic blemishes whatsoever. Basically as new the day I took the shipment. The pictures tell the story. You can go to the website and see what the list price is on these, I’m well aware that with all the modifications, I’m gonna take a bit of a bath here. At this point, I’ll be happy to have somebody else use it. Price is $600 shipped PayPal goods and services. Please feel free to ask any questions.
