Looking at getting a new shaft for my Joss and the seller is willing to trim the pilot to fit my cue comfortably. I don't have calipers on hand so want to make sure I give him accurate measurements. Does anyone know the exact measurements on the pilot opening (diameter and depth) for Joss cues?

.

The pilot on a Joss shaft really doesn't do anything.

The diameter would be .480-.490 and the depth would usually be around .100-.110 the thickness of most brass insert pilots.

I agree with the comments from poolguy4u. My Joss was built in 1985. I have shafts at 0.500” that fit freely and shafts at 0.510” that cannot be screwed into the butt.
