joss west questions

I recently purchased an extremely old joss west cue with the sideways w. It is unique and extremely old. It appears to have never been refinished. It has the original Cortland wrap and the lacquer is almost all gone. Cue is dead straight. Here is the unique part it is an inch shorter than standard and does not have the stitch rings at the joint collar. I was wondering how many he made this way and how much other info I could get on the cue or where to find it
Thanks for your help

as far as i know, most if not all old JW's are 57". Regarding the joint collar trim rings, it should hold no real significance

Interesting question because the cue I just sold with a sideways W was 58".
This JW is 57", and I don't really know when it was made, but I was thinking late 70's.
Other similar Joss Wests seem to all have a sideways W, but since this cue is 57" with an upright W, it's confusing>>

Ted, yours is obviously a counterfeit. You should just send it to me for proper disposal  ;)

Shouldn't be real odd, Bill customized sticks for people back then all the time and/or it could have been shortened due to the Tenon being broken or split. Quite common for a clown to the wreck the tenon taking an old cracked Micarta ferrule off. And remember 95% of the cues he sold back then were 200-300.00 daily players for locals in Co. Spgs. so they took a beating.
