Juma ferrule - durability

Does anyone break with a cue that has a Juma ferrule? Have you experienced any cracking or mushrooming? I recently got a new shaft for my playing cue and am curious how it will hold up to the break shot.

I've been breaking with mine for about two years. No pad under the tip and my tip is a pooldawg8 milkdud. I don't break hard though and it's only 3/4 speed on 9 and 10 ball breaks. I've had no issues at all.

Ditto exactly what Allen said.I have 2 shafts Juma/milkdud,water buffalo,no pads & I break hard,no problems whatsoever & stays pretty clean !!!

cyclotr0n........this is purely deductive logic but it really does make perfect sense.

It's not that I have heard of any problems whatsoever using Juma as a ferrule material on a cue shaft.

It's the opposite of that that carries the most significance for me......and I've been playing pool for 54 yrs.

In the 5+ decades I've been playing pool and acquiring & selling pool cues, I have "never" heard of any complaints, criticisms, or actual examples
where Juma was in question for pool cue material......inlays, rings, cue butts, inlays, joints and ferrules. In recognition of the ivory ban, Juma would
otherwise seem to have lots of natural appeal for cue buyers, especially if they travel with their cue(s) internationally. From afar, Juma does resemble
ivory and some people even consider it a suitable substitute for the real deal, however, if durability is your concern, don't be......history confirms this so.

I install a thin walled uncapped Juma ferrule on most of my cues. The only time they have failed/split was when someone lets the tips get to short. The two I have replaced. The edge of the tip was paper thin. Don't let your tips get to short and you should be fine breaking with Juma.
