Jump Break Cue Specs?

I'm a hobbyist cue maker and have never had a jump break cue, so don't destroy me for not knowing. I have a house cue that the points run high enough to make a j/b out of, so I was just wondering what the specs should be? Mostly where the two joints are to be put in and how much is the jump sectoin suppose to weigh. Is there any special taper for the shaft or anything else I should know before cutting? If you can help that would be great, thanks.

A jump cues min. length is 40" so if your shaft is 29" the jump section can be as short as 11". You want the shaft as stiff as possible so all the energy goes into the cue-ball henceforth 13.5 to 14 mm. You also want the jump section and shaft to be as light as you can make it.

Thanks Dick. That is pretty much what I was looking for.
 
I recently tried out a jump cue that had a light handle, and a heavy shaft that seems easy to use, altough don't know if a heavier shaft would be good for break speed. I have a couple of lighter weight dufferins I was thinking of using for one.

Jump break cues suck, you will alway compromise between breaking well and jumping well. Anyone that is serious about jump shots needs a jump cue. IMO
A good break cue will have a low deflection shaft, a good jump cue will deflect like crazy.
