I think it's a good idea to ask questions. Here's one:

I have a Stinger and like it, but I wonder why the butt is hollowed out instead of the jump handle. Seems to me like that's backwards, since you want the jump cue to be as light as possible, not the break cue. Are all models of the Stinger like this? Mine is an original sneaky pete model that's out of production (I think).

Just wonderin' if anybody knew.

It's a good j/b, but I don't think there's really much difference between the different brands.

Patrick i have used the sneaky pete and the 1st gen Stinger and they hit different. I didn't take them apart, but they definitely feel different.

I have not used the new Stinger. With the SST shaft, so can't compare it to the other 2 models

Any idea why the hollow butt on my Stinger? Maybe it's for a weight bolt - guess I'll have to look in there with a flashlight...

You probably have a standard butt where a weight bolt would normally be but is not needed in this instance. Just a guess...

I pulled the rubber bumper off and looked in there tonight. It's a 1/2" diameter hole 10" deep with no bolt and no threads to take a bolt. Looks like it was just hollowed out to lighten the cue (it could be a standard weight bolt hole without the weight bolt, like you say, but it seems too deep for that).

I still wonder why they didn't lighten the jump handle - maybe a structural/strength issue?

You can always scientifically test it. Whack it on the table a few times!

The Chilton jump is very light. Most jumps are going to try the best they can to be as close as they can to the weight of a plain shaft. Sounds like you own a winner!
