In his garage or at the Fire house, Ray!

It's kind'a wore out since he's played 4 hours a day on it for 10 years! LOL

I think you're being hustled, Ray!

Stones

Everybody "used to be" a ping pong champion!

I think they are simply having flashbacks of their childhood when their Dad would let them win to build their confidence. :D

Ray

ps. Saturday will tell the tale. ;)

So how many AZ'ers are going to be at this thing?? :happydance:

:grinning-moose: <----I just wanted to throw that one in here for the hell of it. :groucho:

I had planned to be there, but that disgusting four letter word (work) got in the way. Gotta work all weekend. {sigh}

Isn't that always the way.

:frown:

Ray wins the challenge! I'll admit I was humbled last night! :p

We played 10-ball, race to 6 first.

Ray wins the lag!

I ran it up to an almost straight in 10-ball and then proceeded to dog it. It was downhill from there for me. I also left a 10-ball jawed. Ray made a 9-ball and scratched 3-rails to give me one as well. At 5-4, I broke and left the 10-ball near a corner pocket. It went back and forth a bit before Ray was left safe on the 1-ball... and Ray proceeded to jump it, hit the 1-ball and run his cueball uptable for a double-kiss on the 10-ball to win the first set!

I picked One Pocket race to 3 next... figuring I had the nuts in this game. I won the first game and got up 4 balls or so in the second. With a medium long straight in shot on the 5-ball, I miscued leaving Ray a wide array of shots. I think he got 5-6 or 6 balls from there and I never recovered. Ray shot well in the games afterwards, making many banks and showing no fear. In the last game, I had another unfortunate miscue which might have turned the game as well, but it may not have mattered. Ray won the second set 3-1!

We also played a race to 2 in short rack banks... guess who won? Yep, Ray did!

Congratulations to Ray on a well-played evening of ping-pong, pool and flipping coins! $100 will go towards a worthy cause.

I got ran over by a Big Truck! :p

Ray should have bought a lottery ticket last night... or at least entered a Chow Yun Fat look-alike contest vs. me. I know he would have won! :p

Finals

I would like to thank everyone who made it out to Billiard Den for the Handicapped 9 ball event!!

We have the finals going on right now!!

Robert Clark vs Gordy Vandeveer

1 race to 9!

Congrats to Jui Lung Chen for finishing 3rd place. Chen played some great pool and, as always, was a crowd pleaser!!

4th went to an up and coming 17 yr old, William Howard from Richardson.

5-6th went to Viet My Nguyen:eek:, & Jon Rawlins.

As expected it was a great time!!!

Thanks again,

Ray

Winner

Well..........it was a great tournament !!! Full Field. We had to turn away 6 players! Hopefully we can do these again, but with more tables.

The winner is......Gordy Vandeveer! Gordy was in rare form today, playing some great pool!!!

Congratulations couldn't go to a finer individual!!

Robert Clark also played very well. Hats off to him too! Robert won 2 matches playing even with Chen!

This was a fun tournament, even if I did play worse than crap. Good to see you Ray, and maybe next time I'll be able to beat Viet My in the tournament. I don't know what you did to him on Friday night, but he played damn good on Saturday.

Sometimes it helps to get in a little action the night before!;)

I have to commend the Billiard Den folks, Larry & Marci Rothberg, for their continuous improvement efforts. The a/c was blasting cool air the entire event. The service was still lacking, but seemed a little better than in the past.

Thanks again to everyone for coming out and having a little fun!!:D

Good to see you Juan! If we had played even, I'm sure you would have won! Ray must have moved me down a rating after he kicked my @$$ on Friday. :p

Thanks to Ray and the The Billiard Den for hosting such a nice event. Diamond tables are still a little tough for me, but they play great!

It was great to see so many familiar faces!

One thing I really liked about the way we did the ratings was, after the computer suggested the spot we were able to make judgements with the 3 tier system.

Thanks should go out to Big Doc for assisting!! Without him, things would've been crazy!!!

Thanks Doc!!!
