Oh, Oh - Cliff walks in at 3 am & Gabe's on the way w/ the $30K.

As you can see from my previous post - Gabe Owens is playing tonight, tomorrow & Sunday at The Break. Before I left last night @ 3 am I see a fellow over playing a video game who no one even noticed. There were two great matches going on. Both for over 2k.
It was Cliff Joyner. This is looking like a VERY interesting Weekend.
 
I'm headed to Cahokia tonight, wanna see who all shows up, w/Cliff and Gabe both being there, i'm sure there is going to be lots of action. Can't wait to get there, what time is the mini tourny tonight? Thanks
 
Gabe's Got A Kinked Neck!

Whata Ya Gonna Do?
Gabe Called Terry at The Break yesterday to inform us that He was in a lot of pain and couldn't even look up. Seems he woke up with a bad kink in his neck and it was causing a lot of pain. This same thing happened to me a bout a month ago and it took 4 or 5 days and 4 visits to a good chiropractor to get rid of it. Too Bad though, as we were all looking forward to "Giving Gabe His Due" and seeing him play again. Oh well, Cliff is here and David Matlock, Tony Fargo, Andy Quinn, Mark Wilson, etc., etc. There is still a lot of talk about a Big $K match supposed to be in the works.
AND OH BOY, TERRY'S GOT A BRAND NEW TOY-
Terry went out and bought one of those huge BBQ grill thingys that is on a trailer. Also went out and bought about 40 slabs of Ribs & made 2 gal of his(special, secret) sauce.
He cheated on the 18 oz Char-Grilled Rib-Eye Steaks though. Me & mine had one last night and they were at least a 22 ounces. One of the best I've had in Many-A-Moon.
Sorry - Gotta Go - Too Much Action, Steaks, Ribs & Cardinal Baseball on the Big Screen to keep me here on this computer.
 
The Results In St. Louis

Well Gabe couldn't make it because of a kink in his neck but the toruney was VERY enjoyable. Everyone raved about the Steaks & BBQ. David Matlock was the winner in the final match over Mark Wilson. Right after this match, I mentioned to David that he played just as good as he did in Enid, OK about 25 years ago when he played Buddy. He agreed that he has finally "Hit A Gear" that seems to resemble those years. The only way to discribe his playing Sunday is "PERFECT"!
Evelyn & Danny did a fantastic job (as usual) running a 91 man tourney board + the Womens tourney.
I think Cliff Joyner is still around so the verdict on "THE ACTION" aspect is yet to be determined.
I personally had 2 of the local GREAT players "On The Ropes" and failed to "Close The Deal"!
After winning 2 hard fought matches -
I had Joe Woolford 6 to 0 (race to 9) - & "Pooped In The Popcorn"!
Then, I had Jerry Terbrok 7 to 2 - & "Shit In The Chilli"!
MY EXCUSE - "The Beer was Too Cold - The Food was Too Good - & I am just an - OldHasBeen"!
 
You crack me up with your terminology, "pooped in the popcorn" and the others. Glad to hear that it was a good turn out overall. Matlock and Wilson in the finals, must have been a good match! How did Andy Quinn end up? Joe Woolford?
