just got a predator

I just bought a predator 314 second generation shaft and attached it to my meucci. I'm amazed at the lack of deflection and it seems to defy the laws of physics. I'm relearning how to aim but am finding that I can make all kinds of shots in a row with inside english that I used to over cut because of all the squirt or deflection.

I do however notice that occasionally the english doesn't happen at all. I have a measles cue ball so you can really see if it's spinning and sometimes there is no spin at all. This didn't happen with my tiger x but I've heard that a predator takes some getting used to. I know it has to be me and the way I'm shooting. It seems like in would happen when I was trying to apply inside english at about 10 oclock on the cueball.

Just curious if anyone else has experienced this. It happened when I tested my friends before I ever bought one.

This is my first post so go easy on me. I LOVE this place! Woohoo!

Congrats on your new shaft. Keep playing with it, and you will get used to it, but the fact that you like off the bat means you are well along your way.

BTW most people either love or hate 314s, and few are on the fence.

the secound generation is a great shaft in its self so just practice with it and you will love it... good luck

With so many knowledgable folks here, (teachers etc.) I try to be very careful about real pool advice, but I experienced the same suprise at the physics that you talked about earlier when I got my 314-2. I've never had the same issue with inside english so I'm thinking it might be a transitional thing. Just like everyone else has said, I think you've just got to spend a little more time with your new friend. :D

IMO if there is no spin at all when you feel like there should be then I would think you are not hitting the cue ball where you think you are because if you were there would be spin. I had the same situation back in the day until I finally realized I was not hitting the cue ball where I was aiming.
