Just my opinion

Golden rule of forum life:

Do not post anything you would not say in real life.

I don't think most of these posts are meant to be insulting...things just get carried away sometimes. Everyone should ask themselves what they would think if they logged on here and saw your name plastered all over silly ass threads in response to you achieving the largest professional milestone of your career.

Smorg: I hope you are right in that the black helicopters will come for a few of these threads.
There is a tool we should use(properly)that should help long term-that little box for bad rep....

If professional pool players want to be treated to the same kind of celebrity status and adoration that other pro athletes get, this is all a part of it. They've got to form a thick skin and take the bad with the good.

A moron is a moron - it is not debatable. It has absolutely nothing to do with with the relative fame of the targets of their moronic comments.

If you give the moron a free pass, what does that make you?:D

Did you just attempt to call me a moron? (And by the way, I never said we should give them a free pass... but I was always taught that the bigger person will ignore the ingorant)

In the real world, there will always be negative people saying negative things about positive people for no reason other than they are jealous and miserable and need to pass that on. Lodini is clearly just pointing out this fact. She's in no way condoning the jerks on here who bash SVB, just pointing out that it's typical.

And from what Jay says, I would imagine SVB is very proud of his accomplishments and highly doubt that could be swayed by a few random cheap shots by people who don't even matter.

Insinuating that Lodini's a moron is out of line and simply adds more of the same negative spiral to AZ's forums that you are complaining about.

I guess I have bad taste in humor, but I thought all of the threads were funny, except blackjacks tranny porn post.

But I can understand how it could be viewed as disrespectful, and I didn't mean any disrespect in my thread about calling combos.

I apologize for anyone that took offense.

Good shootin Shane!

lol. That is just funny on so many levels even though it wasn't Blackjacks fault.

Ok ok, seriously - SVB just won the US Open. He's got a $50k paycheck, a big trophy and the world's attention. Do you REALLY think this forum bogs his mind?

I wonder what kind of shoes he wears.

I think it was posted before. His shoes are an old pair that he borrowed from his mom.

I agree. I have seen him in woofing sessions with some of the most cold hearted pool negotiators and that didn't get under his skin. Even his friends jokingly jabbed disrespectfully (all in fun I might add) at him worse than this. I think that Shane has better things to do than let a little forum banter bother him.

I think it is some of the members here that need to lighten up. They obviously have not spent time in action pool room settings to hear the things said (in jest) while negotiating.

Probably Bruno Maglis. Isn' that the same as what OJ wore??????????????

Shoes? SHOES!@# This is an outrage:eek:

No offense, but as far as respect goes, I doubt he's looking for it on a message board.

If you think so, then you maybe need to reevaluate why your here on a message board.

Posters are anonymous, many have clones (multiple longon names) and likely brag, pose, and exaggerate any accomplishments they have.

And BTW, I've met over a dozen people who are AZ regulars, and hope to meet many more face to face. I would NEVER act or type anything I wouldn't say to their face.

BTW I have a roll of toilet paper for SVB to sign next time I see him.

I am not saying that this stuff will bother him and he has said that it doesn't. That is not the point I am trying to make. I am saying that I think it is disrespectful to him. He is a world champion pool player and he deserves respect. He is and always has been a class act. This isn't an action pool room setting - that is much different. Maybe I should lighten up a little but I will not lower the standards by which I conduct myself.

Wow, are you criticizing my post or adding to it?

I want to know why anyone ever argues with Lodini on these forums. She's (almost) always right. She was just saying the truth - that once you put yourself in the eyes of the public, you'd better be ready for the bad things that people are going to have to say -- be it right or wrong.

From what I see Shane is an amazing pool player and a nice guy. I don't see why anyone would say anything bad about him on here -- and while I agree that people shouldn't be saying anything bad about him on these forums where we are lucky enough to have him post - they do have that right, and I'm sure Shane expects it, or will learn to.

No offence intended.

Funny thing about the English language - "you" can refer to a specific individual or to a group. I was using "you" in the group sense.

I would hope that you (the group) do have standards of behaviour when posting, and methods of enforcing those standards - red reps, et al.

Or is Mr. Wilson out of a job and anarchy the prevailing moronic standard?

I thought I was clearly adding to and elaborating on what you typed.

I thought so and then I didn't and then I did again and then I doubted it and then I was certain you were and then I questioned my judgement and then I figured I'd just ask.

He's not an NFL player or movie star, he's a pool player making peanuts comparatively and shouldn't be criticized on a pool forum of supposed fans and students of the game by some people who just want to be smartarses... IMO :)
