Forgive me if this has been covered in one of the Mosconi threads. They all seem to have gone viral and I haven't read every post.

Did we ever win a lag? Good grief!

I did not see every single match but I saw a lot and do not remember Team USA winning a lag. With the short run/alternating break format the lag is huge. Assuming (I know what can be said about assuming!) your opponent gets to go first ... breaks and runs out for a one to nothing lead, you're toast.

Just saying ... :(

I think we won one. Maybe 2...I didn't watch them all but I do remember it being a big deal when we finally won one.

Was thinking the same thing all week. Don't know what the stats were but I don't recall them winning a lag all week. In a short race, that's HUGE ! Maybe next year we just pick the 5 best laggers.

Or they could send everyday average Joe's like us and get the same results.

In 2 doubles matches, Schmidt outlagged Appleton and Boyes. USA lost the other 14.

Europe broke and ran out 8 times on their 14 first-game breaks but won the match just 4 of those 8 times.

Many of these players have specialties ... one pocket, nine ball, straight pool etc but common to all games is lagging for the break so how could we perform so dismally in such a rudimentary part of all pool? With the format the way it is losing the lag almost every time was a sure way to lose the whole shabang ... Oh, that's right, we did. Just saying. :( :frown:
