Just Wondering...

I've seen it on league night, or after someone fires an air barrel and tries to escape or when a drunk gets lippy and overestimates his (or her) own ability - A fight breaks out.
I've never seen it at a pro event, and admittedly, I haven't been to lots of pro events or high-level tournaments, but has anyone ever seen a disagreement at a high-level event get out of hand and become a brawl?

Joss tour event in the late 90's... Frankie Hernandez and Rob Saez were getting ready to play an early round match. Can't remember who wanted what but they started arguing over whether to lag or flip for the break. Got so heated, Rob ended up hitting Frankie over his back with his cue. Took a couple of people to pull Frankie away.

That was back when Rob was younger with a bit more of a temper...at least around the table. Perfect gentleman away from it. Kind of reminds me of Hennessee in that way.

I saw Gary Spaeth break a cue over a tournaments directors head at a tournament. It was kind of funny actually. The cue didn't have enough impact to knock the guy out. Quite the opposite it really pissed him off and he chased Gary around the room till gary found the door and outside could outrun him.

It started because Gary said the F word during a match and was warned he would be disqualified if he did it again. After losing the match Gary now having nothing to lose walked up to the guy and screamed "F You" right in the guys face in front of the whole crowd.

The guy grabbed Gary and at that point Joey Spaeth went after the guy to defend his son. When the guy turned his attention to Joey was when Gary whacked him in the head with his cue. It may have been the high point of the tournament.

Ummm Earl Strickland?

I think we've all seen Earl go off, get under peoples skin, I remember the hand shake with Ralf Souquet that looked a little less than sportsman-like, and the interview with Daryl Peach several years ago in the Mosconi Cup where Peach had some choice words for Earl, but I've never seen him get physical or go to blows with another player. I remember Rodney Morris a couple of years ago during a Mosconi Cup match offer to take (I think) Darren Appleton outside, and I've seen pool and Snooker matches where Tony Drago became a little "unglued", but still none of those ever became violent. It was pretty much just harsh looks and angry words.

FWIW, Earl said in the post interview he was mad during the handshake because Ralf spent too much time celebrating with his team before coming over to shake...
