JW 70's Micarta questions

I'm wondering if anyone has ever seen old yellow micarta with hair thin brown lines in it? They aren't hard to see, they run all the way up and down the ferrules. Never seen this before!

Micarta comes in many forms - it is not uncommon for certain type of micarta to have either cotton or linen threads as a binding/strengthening agent running through it - usually seen more in micarta for industrial applications, but not far fetched to imagine someone using this type micarta for ferrules.
