It's all about rail thickness plus the angle of the bevel plus the cushions used= the profile of body of cushion behind the point of the cushion which gives the best rebound and speed

Think about when all rails were the same thickness, 1 3/4", with a step down to account for the thickness of cloth, so...1 11/16", then depending on which cushions you're using, that decides the bevel to set the nose of the cushion height correctly. Thinner rails didn't appear until much later, when manufactures decided it was cheaper to make the rails a little thinner instead of purchasing thicker wood to net 1 3/4"Dead Crab said:So which rail thickness is optimal for the K-66 and K-55?
