k66 or SuperSpeed?

I am also interested in this and have a few questions.

I have a 4 x 8 barbox and i was wondering if anyone thinks its feasable to attempt to do this repair myself. The rails right now are lousy. Is it hard to get the rail height perfect? What are some troubles i could get into. Is it hard to cut the pocket facings if you dont have the right tools. Is it REALLY difficult to stretch the rails on the cushions? The things that the rails screw into are also stripped a little so i need to replace those. Anyone think i should just pay the $500 qouted to do the rails and cloth? I can't really afford it, so i hope i can handle it myself.

Be sure your table takes K66. If you have a Brunswick, they could be k55. There is a nose height difference between the two.

According to the profiles shown on Best Billiards, there is also a thickness difference, so the playing surface will be a different size.

Also look into Artemis rubber. Mueller's (www.poolndarts.com) has it listed.

If you really want it right---call Pat Sheehan 503-313-8646. He worked for Brunswick in the 1950's and is the real expert. Rail rubber has been made with different compounds to reduce cost and if it does not have the correct specific gravity,it will not last over a year. The correct height is 1 25/64" . Trust me.

Hmm - thats a tad more than 1/16" taller than anything even available, without shimming up the rails - perhaps the cloth itself generates this difference?
