has anyone tried a kamui black SS on an ob classic pro? i shot with that tip on my stock schon shaft and i loved how it hit but still didn't like the stock shaft as much.

I play with a classic pro, I tried the kamui black SS and hated it all the way, now im playing with the same ob classic pro and kamui HARD, love the feel of it. For some reason I really like playing with hard tips.

all my cues have OB Classic Pro shafts (3), and all have kamui black SS tips. I would not change a thing.....

that has always been my thought that a stiff shaft with a soft tip would be the perfect combo. or vice versa. hard tip stiff shaft is too much and also vice versa. i would think the SS tip would almost give you the feel of a standard maple shaft but also the properties of the LD shaft. i guess i'll find out. i ordered a SS and hope to have it on by the weekend. i will post after i try it out. on a predator shaft, i would think a harder tip would be better since they are kind of dead feeling to me.

hlymnster14,

I have an OB classic with a Kamui SS & have almost always played with soft Elk Master or Brunswick Blue Diamonds.

The SS was so thick & soft that at first it felt like the CB was sticking to the cue. It was suggested that I remove a few layers & that it would get to a better playing level. I did & it was playable & is getting better with age.

Good Luck with yours,

thanks for the good info. on my stock shaft, the new SS tip was very soft and tall at first and i did the same thing and took alot off the top and now it plays great and hasn't mushroomed at all.

finally got around to putting the kamui black SS on my OB classic pro. i really like it alot. it allows you to move the CB around the table with just a medium stroke. i tested it vs. a tiger everest (which i also like). i was able to generate alot more spin with the same stroke.

you can really steer the CB. if you like to mash the balls, this tip won't work. if you have a soft to medium speed stroke and play a more finesse game, i couldn't imagine a better combo except...that i did have to take a good bit off again to get the hit i like. but once i did, it was awesome. felt like an old moori medium (best tip ever, paid $60 for one installed in like 1999. used the moori med's until a few years ago when the quality seemed to really go downhill.)

so i'm thinking maybe trying a kamui soft next time so i don't have to take 25% of the tip off to get it where i want it. that might be the holy grail.

It the best combination I've found. Been playing with them since OB came out with the classic pro.
