Kamui tips, any perceptible difference in feel going from the regular to the clear with the plastic pad?

Has anyone experimented using any of the Kamui tips with and w/o the clear pad? For example, using a super soft black clear, (with the clear pad), and a super soft black w/o the pad? Or it could be a super soft tan with and w/o the pad?
I know the pad is used primarily so the glue doesn't somewhat soak into the tip, (or at least that's what Kamui says). I may be splitting hairs here but I read somewhere that the tip w/o the pad may give a bit better feedback or feel?
I've always used black super soft clears and have been happy with them but am doing some experimenting and would like the thoughts of anyone that may have some info about it.

Thanks.

From what I've tried, they play exactly the same. Some like the clear look. I don't like installing them as it's a pain in the butt without a real lathe. I have a sharpshooter one that can put on most tips easily, these can be done but are a pain. If you're not installing them yourself you wont have an issue.
