Kamui vs. Sniper

Why do peoples think that the sniper are hard? They are quite soft (medium actually) and play even softer.

Tap, tap, tap.. totally agree. thxs

Kamui, med soft is like about the same as a Sniper. I needed more feedback from my cue, so I went back the Moori med. The Sniper and Kamui med soft felt like I was hitting the cueball with a sponge. Maybe I will try a Kamui med someday, but couldn't get over how tall the tip was...

A thought about detecting tip hardness

It seems that lots of people who try out a Sniper tip perceive the tip to be on the soft side, especially in its first few hours of play. I think most people would perceive Snipers to be significantly softer than Everest tips or Triangles. But just what are we using to judge hardness here? I think it has to be the SOUND of the hit and maybe the sound of the hit is just not a reliable way to judge hardness. With most substances, a "clink" means the substance is harder than one making a "thud" sound. But maybe we can't always apply that to cue tips. I think it has now become pretty clear that durometer tests don't always agree with our subjective estimates of tip hardness.
