I need some help. I'll be in Kansas City (Crown Center) from Thursday to Monday on business. I have 2 REALLY important pool matches next week when I get back, and I MUST practice at least a couple of times while I'm in KC. Are there any nice halls near Crown Center???? Help.

Side Pockets

It is totally worth the drive, but Side Pockets in Lenexa, is hands down one of the coolest places to play, eat (amazing food), and hang out that I have ever been too. The guy owns a bunch of these, but this is the original one.

I looked up the website for you too.

Great pics of the joint! -man they should pay me for this. :D

There isn't any really super close poolrooms near crown center. The closest would probably be the side pockets up north on englewood (around 8 miles give or take). They have nice gold crowns and valley bar tables. Also, the brass rail is very nice which is also in the northern part of town. Shooters in Olathe, is famous for great tournaments. It was in decline until the original owner regained control. You just missed their first tournament last week. The one pocket had 38 players and the bar table nine ball had 107 players. Matlock, Bowman, Harriman, Walden to a name a few were there.

KC Pool Halls

I am pretty partial to Shooter's in Olathe, KS! I have played out of there for about 15 years. I quit when Dan Tull (the ORIGINAL owner) was forced out for 2 years or so. Well he's back in charge and let me tell ya, the "Shooters Family" is sure glad! Even players that haven't been there for many years are coming back in! Side Pockets are all very nice, but if you want the "pool atomsphere" i would highly suggest going to Shooters - it's not ellegant but its nice! And, yes they are home of the big tournaments - in fact Dan is already talking about maybe having another Pro-Tour stop in! The last one (several years ago) was a total blast! I was at the "first" big tournament this time around and i agree - they had a very nice turnout, especially considering Dan had only been back in charge for about a month or so! If anyone ever gets the chance, Shooters has these tournaments about 3 - 4 times a year! The next one is in February, but i don't know the exact date! When I find out, I will post it on the "tournament dates/announcements" Thread(?) Dan is pretty well known around the pool world across the country. :)

I wonder if he'll have it at the same time as the Missouri State 9-Ball since it's around there and he had his first one the same time as the Missouri State 8-Ball...lol. He probably just doesn't want us dirty missourians over there :D

In the past they have not conflicted. THe Midwest 9-ball stop in Olathe was the week after the MO. State 9-ball.
